These things are terrible for the environment.

    We don’t need to ban them. They just need to be made to sink through a series of unfortunate events that are nobody’s fault at all.

    And if the owners are aboard and are unable to escape the sinking, I’m sure that would be a tragedy, and absolutely nobody would be dancing in the streets over such an event.

    Is there a yacht tracking site like the ones people have used to track private planes?

  • There are a number of sites that do this with naval transponders (an example of one). Generally, I believe it’s expected that civilian vessels have their transponders engaged (especially in national waters), though I’m not sure there are any strict requirements (or even realistic enforcement mechanisms) once one reaches international waters.
