The U.S. government has charged Samuel Tunick with allegedly typing in a passcode to wipe his phone before officers could search it. “I hope people understand that the charges against me are meant to intimidate people,” he said.

Just another example of the Trump admin trying to intimidate protestors using whatever the fuck they can to bring up whatever charges they can.

That's an incredibly uneducated response. China has lifted over 700 million people out of poverty. The quality of life is constantly improving. Whereas in the US, private equity is clawing back everything. The worker means nothing in the west.

With any luck, China will be the beacon of light the world needs to move forward in a progressive, democratic fashion. As soon as the US falls it'll be a real possibility.

The capitalist propaganda hasn't done you any favors. It's left you disinformed.

    I'm well aware of their growth and successes in economy, technology and growing presence in geopolitics. Earlier comment from me was about human rights abuses and international law. How do China's successes in other areas suddenly absolve their disregard for law and rights?

    Same goes for the US - their military might is definitely recognized, along with their status as a superpower. This doesn't give them the right to disregard law and rights. You seem to be biased towards China. But in terms of human rights and international law, how do they both fare?

    No where in the thread has the topic of economic success come into play. Why have you suddenly inserted it like it's relevant?

    If you say that lifting people out of poverty gives them 'points' towards human rights, not only is this a terrible rationale, this doesn't give them any points to then spend towards their abused in the likes of Tibet and the Uyghurs.

    Thanks, I've been reading up on the increasing cover arguments to the Uyghur discussion. However, does that also apply to their activities in Tibet?

    I haven't read about the Tibet propaganda much, but it'd be out of character. A true communist wants happiness for all. I'm pretty exhausted at the moment, but I'll try to dig in later. I see your other response has a couple of topics to check out.

    Alright, so I dug into Tibet a little bit, which was a giant pain. It's basically a wall of western media and "non-profits." I do recall this history a bit, but it's been quite awhile since I've read about it.

    So America's big shtick is spreading democracy, which is hilarious, right? What happened with Tibet is China freed a million people from feudalism, and for some reason we're upset about it. If the west would have gotten to them first they would have thrown some right wing Hitler wannabe in charge, Nestle or something other giant shitty corporation would have exploited the ever living hell out of everyone, and we wouldn't have heard about it again.. China pushes education through socialism and every CIA/Israel backed "non-profit" loses their shit.

    It was quite awhile ago, and it's interesting. I'll definitely be looking for some literature on the topic.

    The 9 dash line thing, I don't have much of an opinion. Maritime law is also not my thing.

    What international law issues? You haven't named anything.

    China is an incredibly democratic state, as socialist states usually are. China lifts not only it's people up, but also the poor global south. The global south that is poor because of the west's disgusting exploitative practices.

    Let's hear the garbage you heard on MSNBC.
