Oh no! Is it time for the auto industry to collapse, get 81 billion dollars, change nothing, and berate the American consumer for being too poor to buy their cars that now cost twice as much for no specific reason other than capitalism again?

It sure as hell isn't time to ride the bus or build a train. So I guess we're doing your thing.

In the states, certainly. Countries in Europe have done a much better job, and they've even reaped a dividend as a result. Spain, Germany, France, even Italy generate economic growth when they roll out new lines where they want to see more development or expand traffic into popular city centers.

Biggest self-inflicted wound the UK did to itself to date was nixing the HS2 Northern Leg. Similarly, in the states, Houston/Dallas got royally fucked when the HSR connecting those two big metropoles got axed. Dallas is supposed to be gearing up as the NYC of the Gulf Coast. But it's impossible to get people into or out of town except through their maxed-out airports and clogged highways.

After getting that $88 billion bailout They'll bring back sedans and start researching EVs...for about 4 years and switch back to gas guzzling jacked up overcompensating trucks for the men and big suburbans/yukons for the moms who pay more attention to their phones than the road.

Rinse repeat

they'll bring back sedans

Dodge: here's your Dart

Chevy: here's another Cobalt clone that uses a worse motor

Ford: We'll make any Sedan you want as long as it's a Mustang and not a sedan

This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.

This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

Just post some stuff and don't spam.
