I didn't think it was possible to invent a worse format than .gif for moving pictures.
Congratulations!
Gif is perfect for showing small animated icons and simple pictures, not complete movies. The problem is more on the user side, expecting too much from a 37 year old standard.
You must not be old enough to remember vox format.
I am, but I don't.
Ultra audio and video compression for dialup internet. 250x compression with predictable results. You could speed up/slow down audio without changing the pitch, which was kind of cool in 1995.
Oh the adpcm codec used with a lot of the old POTS. I was thinking you were talking a more like for like. Image to image. Having studied telcom in college in the mid 90s. Yes I know that vox ๐
