My mom was a control freak in the kitchen, and now I hate cooking. Every time I make anything more complex than a very simple pasta, I'm subconsciously growing more and more tense because I'm just waiting for someone to yell at me.
I can relate. my mom was like it about cleaning.
it's given me a aversion to very clean spaces, and a lot of comfort in spaces that are dirty and 'lived in', and when i go to someone's house and it looks like it's from a magazine photo and there isn't a spec of dust my skin crawls.
