This is a current item on eBay. Specs are solid for a good price, you can get newer generations for more money, and eBay’s protections are heavily weighted towards the buyer. That said, I just got a Thinkpad X1 Carbon from eBay and those have soldered memory, if that helps alleviate your RAM worries. permalink fedilink source parent [–] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 1 point 2 months ago* I usually take this route and it's easier to find barebones machines with no ram/ssd installed or just a lower quantity of RAM than I wanted. I purchase RAM separately to install. If the machine comes with RAM that gets taken out for upgrade I sell it back into the market if it's worth it, or sometimes it goes down the line to one of my other machines.
