I am reading a book called The Reformatory about a boarding school / prison for mostly black people in the 40s/50s. Not sure what it is precisely about yet. Parts of the book cover racism in Southern US but parts of it also includes folklore and ghosts so I'm guessing it's a bit of both with the main focus being racism and segregation.
