I hear Guts referenced in relation to the Greatsword every once in a while, but I've been pretty active in the DS1 community on Reddit and Youtube for almost a decade now, and I definitely wouldn't call it "the community name" for it, at least for DS1 specifically.

    I heard it referenced like that especially with the abbreviation GUGS lots of times. But admittedly mostly for DS2 onwards and not that often in relation to DS1. I hear that especially often in DS3 and Elden Ring referenced as such. The Design in DS1 is a lot skinnier, maybe the name became more prevalent when the design got a bit more fleshed out?
