I just bought groceries at Kroger and at the self checkout they flagged me as a potential shoplifter for having my helmet in my basket

This right here. This right here is why I fucking hate when ppl dismiss surveillance and data collection, eg. "idc if they want to know i went to work and then Starbucks" etc..

They absolutely make assumptions about us based on statistical analysis of the data they have and then the systems they control treat us based on those assumptions, however wrong. Dynamic pricing is now a thing because they know enough to target subgroups of their customer base to price gauge more efficiently.

Information is power and people are extremely fucking cavalier about empowering the most exploitative and cruel ppl in society, business leaders.
