Boycott US
Overview:
The community dedicated to boycotting the US until they stop fascism, restore full democracy and start following international law.
Americans have a moral obligation to resist Donald Trump and project 2025 at every turn.
America is a flawed democracy currently being ruled by oligarchs. Stop the backslide! Dont let America become the next Hungary.
America needs to challenge the court rulings of citizens united v. fec and shelby county v. holder, protect the media, implement independent district drawing, and the single transferable vote so they don't end up having people stay home in life-changing elections because they cannot vote for their favourite candidate.

This article has nothing to do with Harris, and it’s weird to try to turn a post about Trump’s FCC targeting queer people into a Harris stanning event. In general decentering marginalized people in order to beat your own political drum is gauche as hell.
You’re right, it doesn’t have to do with Harris, does it.
Why is that?
Because the DNC ignored polling data on what policy stances would win the election?
Because they didn't have a backup plan for if Biden became senile, and then tried to hide his senility for as long as possible so Harris was the only available candidate and the Harris campaign had very little time to get going?
Because they ran a black woman against a white man and the US is racist and sexist?
Interesting. What polling data would that be. Is the polling data in the room with us now? Do you believe polling data?
Senility’s not a toaster, right, like there’s no - ding! he’s senile! And the POTUS is normally the de facto head of the party so if your imaginary DNC is gonna say “Look Joe, you’re done” then I would also like that imaginary DNC to be real but it isn’t.
He should have stuck to one term. He fucked up.
Yeah I got nothin’ for that. Sorry Kamala. You can’t run because you’re a black woman. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Ooh! That's it, that's the feeling. Right there. That's what people who stayed home because of Gaza felt.
This moral red line where you just throw up your hands and let the democratic system vote itself out of existence if this is what they want you to sacrifice in name of electability. Try to hold on to that feeling and see if you can project it onto leftists and see if you can spark some empathy.
It's interesting how you treat a factual explanation as a moral statement. The assertion that Harris lost because she's a black woman does not mean a black woman should not run. Unless, of course, you care about electability more than about morality. Can you feel the cognitive dissonance grating in your mind?
I can see the results very clearly. They wrote an article about it. We’re commenting in the actual thread about that article.
But I digress, you were saying something about being superior?
If you have something you want to say you should say it. I’ve already made it clear what I think re: turning a thread about queer people being targeted by the Trump administration into a space to cry about a candidate that lost a year and a half ago.
You're wasting your time. In their comments, Optional is more concerned with browbeating people over how they voted wrongly (often with no indication there's any truth to their vague and spurious accusations) in the eyes of the almighty and infallible Optional than with actually winning elections. Facts don't matter, only that people who criticize the party get put in their place and reminded that it's not for them to rock the boat.
Two years ago these threads were full of ostensibly or self-described queer people who couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Harris. Reasons varied slightly but usually fell into either “she’s transphobic” or “she loves genocide”.
Not everyone, but a lot of posters & commenters.
Because inevitable actions such as those described in OP would be taken by trump, I found such arguments to be unfathomably stupid. Those people are still arguing it was right to not vote Harris and so here we are.
AND we will do it again in two years should Newsom or someone less than perfect get the nomination. Predictable failure to move forward.
I’m not crying my candidate lost. I’m pointing out why the FCC wants to make LGBT+ language “classified”. It’s a direct line of reasoning. People voting against their interests (or not voting at all).
If queer people are telling you and Democrats now, before the primary that they refuse to vote Newsom and Dems decide to go with Newsom anyway, then the party made their bed and they get to lie in it. You don’t get to ignore a marginalized part of your base and then demand they support you, that’s not how politics works. If you want an unquestionable leader that everyone must support you’re talking about religion.
All of which is beside the point when all queer people make up 10% of the population at best, blaming us for the way 90% of cis straight people voted is scapegoating horseshit. Go yell at Karen or Kevin on Facebook 9 times for every 1 you wail and gnash your teeth about how the queers didn’t vote right (despite the fact that is also a bald faced lie, as a group queer people were only behind black women when it comes to voting for a Harris) and I’ll believe this isn’t a knee jerk homophobic reaction to losing.
Newsom has already sabatoged LGBT legislation that was ready to be signed and is hostile to trans people specifically, it is fucking comical to tell me to vote for the guy that wants to defund my healthcare and expect it to happen. As long as you treat the legitimate concerns of queer people like irrelevancies they’re too stupid to understand don’t matter (to you) then you shouldn’t question why everyone doesn’t unwaveringly support them.
Fair enough except it’s the opposite and you’re saying you still won’t.
Okay. Then you won’t. That’s what we have now. Why that should be the desired direction escapes me, but - okay.
We all want the perfect candidate. We’re all not going to get it. Whatever candidate we do get is going to be better than the alternative. Electing the better choice is such basic common sense, it’s just baffling anyone would argue against it but, here we are.
Here we are watching the party with the most votes call LGBTQ “obscene”.
Oh, I’ve been getting emails from the LA LGBT Center about Newsom refusing to fund gender affirming healthcare within the state because they simply got bored and made it up?
If you have no idea about what is going on politically in a state maybe don’t try to explain it to someone who lives there. And if you want a candidate to not be relentlessly criticized by queer people then pick one that isn’t actively courting bigots and blocking LGBTQ legislation.
