Every board is almost exactly wrong. There is always something missing. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 3 child comments replies: [–] merde@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 months ago* (2 children) i used AnySoftKeyboard for years. I started using Heliboard recently and i was able to customise it almost as much as ASK. Heliboard is less buggy and is updated regularly (unlike ASK which is updated once a year or once in 3 years). I use HB to write in 3 different languages with habits borrowed from each other so i need to be able to personalise any button and its popups, placements &c to my liking. If you think that "Every board is almost exactly wrong. There is always something missing." then you just don't know how to use heliboard. It's as flexible as ASK. Settings > Languages and Layouts > 'language of your choice' > Layout There you can edit the layout and add whatever you think is missing permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] starlinguk@lemmy.world 1 point 4 months ago (1 child) Yes. I know. I've tried it all. It's pretty much impossible to get it set up exactly the right way. Mozc is technically Google's project, but is on F-Droid and is pretty good for Japanese writing, so kinda of a gray area, I guess: https://f-droid.org/packages/org.mozc.android.inputmethod.japanese/ Fcitx5-Android is pretty good for Asian languages too, specially if your prefer phonetic keyboards instead of Mozc and Heliboard's visual approach: https://github.com/fcitx5-android/fcitx5-android permalink fedilink source parent
