WhatsApp is extremely popular, even among people who don't use any other Meta services.

    It still boggles my mind most of the world decided to adopt that app of all apps to be the defacto texting app.

    As one of those adopters 15 years ago, it was a no-brainer. I could either message my wife "free" or send SMSs at 20c each.
