A Maryland man made a stop for lunch during his break for lunch and ended up winning $50K. It was news article published on a news site, written up by a news reporter.

What do you think news is? This isn't a political-only news comm, it's a general news comm. This was some general news.

I bet the guy who won the money certainly thinks it's big news! lol

I'm sure him and his family are chuffed, but this isn't actually news for anyone outside of their circle. News should be noteworthy in some way.

The reporter and the news org, UPI.com, found it newsworthy enough to post. If the mod of this community disagrees, then he is free to remove it.

And I am free to complain in the comments.

Of course you are. Just as I'm free to give my defense in the comments.

It's still not news. Have a good one.

Here is the news link to the page it was under at UPI.com, called Odd News: https://www.upi.com/Odd_News/

UPI is in the news business and have been since 1907. So I think they are better at determining what news is than Lemmy posters are.

It is news. Have a good one.

And people doubt you're DJM...

I don't know what that means. Are you replying to the correct post? UPI is an accepted news org in this community. If you have a problem with any news article I have posted, or if you think the facts are incorrect, please let the mod know.
