I'm sorry you felt like you needed to hide parts of yourself on your relationship. That a crappy situation and it sucks. I too had a lot of my femme sentiments for a long time that I hid from my partner and I was very lucky that she was open and accepting when I decided to not hide things anymore.
As kids we have a lot of expectations thrust upon us. Most of them don't allow for any deviation from the norm without severe backlash. There's a reason that there's a saying I hear in the queer community: behind every group of queer teenagers is a 30 year trans woman leading the way. Sometimes it's important to be the voice that says "it's okay" to someone.
