Yeah that makes a lot of sense. Thank you for talking me through this, it has been very enlightening. I’ll make sure to bore my coworkers with this come monday lunch (they’re cool and based so they’ll probably find it interesting too).

My lemmy app won’t let me use hexbear emotes but just imagine a few stalin hearts and lenin awards in here somewhere

    It's some good shit. The book is a lot easier to read than Society of the Spectacle and really made semiotics a radical field. Now I scan every chud truck I see for the latest 4th stage simulacrum bumper stickers of the Christian Spartan Blue Lives Matter Don't Tread On Me Punisher Skull Who Drinks And Protects His Heterosexual Family With .45 ACP Instead of 9MM Because He Is A Real Man. It becomes a social anthropology minigame for something that's otherwise nonsensical or potentially seductive.
