I had read somewhere that a significant part of that is the fact that the only media these people can consume for a large portion of their day is AM talk radio, which is chock full of right-wing propaganda.

IMO the talk radio/podcast fodder has always been the worst of it.

They know it's opinion, but they suck it up like every statement is a verified fact. When you apply a little logic to it, they take it as a personal assault.
