He was one of the best presidents since Jimmy Carter and the country and the world would be better off with him in power vs Trump.
That just goes to show how bad the US is at electing leaders. Just terrible, even when good options do exist, to the point that I still don’t fully believe Mamdani is the New York Mayor.
That’s because he’s not until January 1, 2026.
That probably does something to it as well, but ok then change it to “I can’t believe that he was actually elected”.
Its new york and he was running against cuomo. It wasnt exactly a crazy win.
I don’t take anything for granted in North America. We just elected the most obviously corrupt person to be mayor of Montréal and even the total left/right votes between the four major parties skewed significantly right because we’re stupid as hell.
I think in any healthy society he would have crushed with like 70% of the vote but he barely won which is pretty sad.
Against his competion a healthy society would have looked at Cuomo and thrown him in the fucking garbage and Mamdani would have gotten 90%. Ya’ll gotta raise your standards, even if you don’t raise your expectations.
It's because when you put a piece of ripe fruit into raw sewage it doesn't make the sewage suddenly drinkable, but suddenly I no longer want to eat the fruit. But hey with enough fruit and time that makes a farm, idk I'm trying to be positive here. Forget aboutit

Trump being horrendous in every way doesn't erase Biden, Obama and the like being bad leaders who preserve the status quo.
I would love to have Biden, Obama or Harris leading the country right now.
