I bet it would be a lot easier for the Executive branch to abolish "student loan default" as a thing that affects your credit score a lot easier than actually cancelling the debt. Then the banks wouldn't have any recourse. I wonder if there's any precedent for anything like that, like if the fed can just declare it and force Congress to try and pass a law to overturn it. permalink fedilink source parent
