There are lots of other private ways to donate that don't involve scams.

What would you use instead? PayPal? Which was literally founded by fascist Elon Musk and democracy-hating Peter Thiel?

Anything that involves banks? Literally centralized financial institution that are subject to extensive KYC/AML regulation?

GitHub Sponsors at least doesn't charge fees, so it's the best of these options. But crypto, especially XMR, is objectively better for accepting donations online.

So because crypto has been used for scams, no one should use it or support someone who accepts it?

Wait till you hear about fiat.

Crypto is only rife with scum because of its privacy. And I don't disapprove of private alternatives just because bad people use them.

    That's government speak. 1:1

No because it's used almost exclusively in scams. Also because of the insane environmental impact.

Wait till you hear about fiat.

I'll say the same thing about platforms like Zelle or wire transfers. If someone asks you for them, it's almost certainly a scam.

    • Lack of any regulation whatsoever. And increasingly so with the new US administration.
