To be fair, the petite girl controversy thing was the lemmy.blahaj.zone admin being a weird tyrant, not lemmy.world. Unless they did the same thing at LW lol. Thus far shitjustworks has been reliable and unobtrusive for me.
They certainly picked a weird hill to choose for defederating, lots of communities defederate lemmynsfw just because they don't want porn in users feeds (which is totally fair). The specific post they were angry at was a verified OF model and also had been verified for the community they were posted in. Like if you just don't want a porn instance just say that's the reason, dont make it look bad
Lemmy seems to be following a path of Discord. First you pick your genre/niche, join a Lemmy instance that is friendly/popular to that topic, then join and start subscribing to topics in that niche.
That’s why I’ve joined at dbzer0, to follow the discussion related to piracy without worry of defederation as the largest community for that niche is here.
Does shitjustworks have any defederation policy?
The way it's been working so far is that people will bring up instances they have concerns about in the agora community. There's community discussion, and then a vote. So far I think just exploding-heads was defederated from after a discussion and vote.
