This is a demo for the Pebble Time 2 watch (also ported to MicroW8).

Music + visuals is about 100 times smaller than a typical mp3 file (less than 50kb)

Here's a little project im working on for a belt clip for the Pebble Time. Due to the environment I work in having lots of spinning machines, jewelry and loose/dangling things are strictly forbidden. That means no rings, necklaces, or watches, and that hair must be tied up and clothing can't be baggy.

I am creating this belt clip so I can keep track of the time as well as phone notifications without having to constantly pull out my phone. The flip up design makes it very easy to see the watch at a glance.

This is my first version. Pretty happy with how it came out. I downloaded the official Pebble Time 3D models and designed the clip around it. I made it so you can reuse the pin from the official watch band by inserting it into the slot on the clip.

I already have a few fixes in mind for the second version. I want to change the geometry of the gap to fit thicker belts and also to hold on to said belts better. I might also toy around with the idea of incorporating a tiny magnet in the clip so that the watch keeps folded on the clip until you flip it up.

If anyone wants the STL file now I'm fine with sharing it. I would rather focus on the updated version personally. Once I feel satisfied that the design is solid enough, I'll post it properly on the print websites. Also, after I perfect the design, I'll likely make versions for some of the other watches by tweaking the design.

Eric Migicovsky, leader of the revived Pebble, is making smartwatches for himself. You're just along for the ride.

"Apple makes it incredibly difficult for third-party devices to interact with things like iMessage or Siri or any of the built-in features on iOS," Migicovsky told Gizmodo in a freewheeling video interview. "And that sucks. That sucks for competition. That sucks for innovation. That sucks for price."

I ordered a Time 2, lets see when it arrives.

A big use would be display for navigating on bike trips, hooked up to a phone that does the routing with a capable app.

I have found a few apps that kinda route themselves? I dont imagine that to be very good.

There is a single app to display Google maps output, which I think is similar to what I would imagine.

Osmand displays turn directions and distance in a notification.

That alone should be pretty easy to sync and display reliably?

Something with a minimap for visual feedback would be even cooler but likely not possible without deep app integration and the app itself communicating with the watch.

(OSMAnd has plugins so this should be possible, but someone needs to do it)

I get that this is a niche within a niche within a niche situation, but has anyone had luck getting apps that need internet working with the internet helper app? I am running graphene and the latest gadgetbridge nightly along with the most recent internet helper build. I can install and manage apps, push weather to the built-in watch app, etc., but regardless of what settings I've tried, apps don't seem to be able to reach the web. I guess my first question is does this work for anyone? If so, any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Pebble Time 2 has now entered mass production. We’ve finished all the testing and design changes we need to make. Things are working very well!

Here’s the rough manufacturing and shipping schedule

• We started mass producing a few dozens watches per day. Over the next month we’ll ramp up to our target of 500 per day.
• The first PT2s will ship out during the last week of March.
• With over 20,000 pre-orders, we expect to finish shipping around the beginning of June.

Pebble Time 2 Production Update: We’re in the Production Verification Test (PVT) phase right now, the last stop before Mass Production (MP).

Entering PT2 Mass Production on March 9.

Based on current schedule, the first mass production PT2s will arrive on wrists during the beginning of April. We should wrap up delivering all pre-ordered Pebble Time 2s two months later by the beginning of June.

Did we ever really need a phone on our wrists?

As soon as I held the Pebble Round 2 in my hand, I suddenly realized what I’d been missing for the better part of a decade. I’ve always felt smartwatches should supplement, rather than supplant, your phone, but that’s an attitude that feels almost quaint these days.

After Eric Migicovsky, the founder of Pebble and the driving force behind its 2025 relaunch through his new company, Core Devices, unveiled the innovative Index 01 smart ring for capturing quick voice notes and introduced two open-source Pebble smartwatches, the Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2, a new device has now joined the lineup.

I’m talking about Pebble Round 2, a modern reimagining of the beloved Pebble Time Round from 2015, once known as the thinnest smartwatch ever made.

At the center of the update is a new 1.3-inch color e-paper display that now covers the entire face of the watch. The large bezel of the original model is gone, replaced by a bezel-free design that delivers a resolution of 260×260 pixels at 283 DPI—roughly double the pixel count of the first Round

As we informed you early this year, Google was open-sourcing the code for Pebble watches, making about 95% of the software available to the community. The last 5%—the mobile app—remained closed. That’s now changed with the announcement of Eric Migicovsky, the founder of Pebble and the person leading its 2025 relaunch under his new company, Core Devices.

As of this week, the entire software stack behind modern Pebble watches, including PebbleOS, the mobile companion app, developer tools, and the Pebble Appstore backend, is now fully open source.

The new open-source mobile app is central to that change. When the original company shut down, Pebble users faced a significant problem: without a companion app, the watches were effectively unusable.

Pebble, the e-ink smartwatch with a tumultuous history, is making a move sure to please the DIY enthusiasts that make up the bulk of its fans: Its entire software stack is now fully open source, and key hardware design files are available too.

Pebble creator Eric Migicovsky announced the move on Monday in a blog post and video detailing the changes his reborn Pebble watchmaking firm has undertaken, and they're considerable.

Yesterday i charged my pebble c2d for the second time. Got the watch at 80% charged it to 100% then drained to 30% over 12 days, then charged it up to 62%.

What's weird is after charging, my reported battery kept going up even when not on the charger. It was at 74% 8 hours later. I restarted the watch and it showed 88% immediately and then has since dropped to 87%. Anyone have any idea what happened here?

Edit: Guess I can answer my own questions with some research. Love having access to the source. Older watches use a linear voltage table with some debounce logic. These new nrf based devices use Nordic's fuel gauge library with coulomb counting. So, it's an adaprive algorithm that learns over time. Only issue is calibration takes discharge cycles, but with a watch that discharges over weeks, not days, that can take a while as I'm on only my second discharge cycle, and even then not a 100% cycle. Oh pebble problems ;)

I'm guessing if i had waited for a full charge that also would have helped.
