Whatever happened to The Fight™?

I was told there was going to be A Fight™

Growing up, I was taught that at some point in my life, I was going to have to put up A Fight™.

A Fight™ with a bully,

A Fight™ over a girl,

A Fight™ for my honor,

A Fight™ for my rights,

The Fight™ of my life.

I spent a good chunk of my life waiting for The Fight™, Looking for The Fight™, preparing for The Fight™

When I look back, I see all the friends I lost to The Fight™.

People I alienated because I foresaw the potential of A Fight™ with them

People who left because they didn't want to Fight™ me.

People who died Fighting™ with other people.

When I look back, I see lots of things that could have been A Fight™, but none of it seems like it was worth Fighting™ over.

And the things that absolutely were worth Fighting™ over weren't the kind of thing that could be won in a One-On-One Fight™.

And when I look at the people who lived long enough to begin raising boys of their own, it seems like the lessons are about fighting with each other rather than Fighting With Each Other™

To give up on Fighting™ but never give up the fight.
