Ethnic Minorities and People of Color

Like even if I gave them the benefit of analyzing the conditions that lead to them having those views as adolocents (learned from parents, peers, just society in general, poor material conditions, etc.) the fact that at the drop of a hat they'll revert to those views or try and tell off the legitimate concerns from POC over someone's problematic views makes me think that they haven't really completely gotten rid of that part of themselves. White privilege really is alive and well among these people.

While it is possible to rehabilitate reactionaries, it takes time and effort. Sometimes it takes years. Unlearning bigotry (especially racism, sexism, and queerphobia) is a lot like learning a new language. Unless you're immersed in it, you are going to struggle. Learning is immediately undone the second you leave the classroom and enter back right into your native language. People on this Norwegian owl fencing website don't seem to get it.

For real. When I posted in the mod announcement thread I made sure to make it clear that I just wanted people to be smarter about how they are approaching this whole situation and not to make it about celebrating this guy until we know that he doesn't still hold these racist/xenophobic views. It still got someone agitated enough to have a whole debate about it.

I should have known better because as soon as I started seeing people talking about how "beautiful" it was to see the left and right come together it should have indicated just how much shit they were willing to accept even if it meant waving off the concerns of the empoc userbase here (and possibly IRL too, with how some people were talking in that thread, which is what matters most)

For every infinitely rare Luigi that kills the "right" person, there are a gigantic and far greater number of Luigis who have the same exact views and point their guns down the social ladder.

I remember being 23 once and I never had such fucked up views like the Italian while struggling with almost every facet of life (financially, socially, and mentally to start). The defence via "the person was x years old so how was the person supposed to have critical thinking ability?" is so fucking tiresome and really makes me wonder if this is some anglo white thing.
