I like when people were pretending they cared in the beginning but then would give excuses for doing stuff. "Normally, we're very careful, but you know it was our anniversary..." like covid is over in the corner writing them a hall pass the for evening or something.

Are you sure they don't just mean that we are no longer acting like there is a pandemic?
Our social attitudes about the pandemic are certainly different than they were in 2020.
Yes, but saying that in response to someone asking for masks to return in healthcare settings is still something I hate. It doesn't mean anything. It isn't helpful. It's never someone who agrees those precautions should be brought back.
I work in a healthcare setting, and we never dropped masks. All care givers, and all patients are masked. The boss actually studied microbiology. Turns out influenza, RSV, and corona virus are all active, still.
In hidnsight, how healthcare professionals weren't masked all the time before covid is bonkers to me.
IMHO, we were ‘flying by the seat of our pants’, laboring under a mis-interpretation of research done back in the 30s during Typhus epidemic. With SARS-CoV-2 all of our understanding of airborn transmission was reviewed, and mistakes were corrected. Science progresses, but sometimes it takes a while, alas.
That's great to hear. Knowing there are still pockets of resistance is very heartening.
Sincerely, thank you for keeping up with it.
Ya, in that context, I would agree.
In the context of someone asking, "Is a mask required to attend?" I think it would make sense. We don't do masking requirements anymore.
Me, during the Blitz, refusing to take my family to the bomb shelters because I'm just so done with the war
Me, getting my limbs blown off: "I'm so glad we can get Applebee's in person again"
And my sister, who I live with, popped positive this morning. Husband isn't masking, keeps mentioning she basically feels like she has a cold.
Thanks to @[email protected] for turning me on to covixyl the other day. Fingers crossed my air purifier and n95s aren't counterfeit. 🤞
Brightside is I think she's ordering covixyl for her family now which is at least a step up from doing fuck all since they gave up masking last year.
Thanks to @[email protected] for turning me on to covixyl the other day.
Same. My mother is traveling this week for a funeral with unvaccinated relatives, but now she's traveling with Covixyl (and rapid tests).
