Yep..I totally get that! Way back before Apple Watches I wore a Polar heart rate monitor. One day near the end of my usual hard 30min on the step mill I looked at the watch and it had TIMED OUT….just dashes on the screen. It did NOT count the calories of the last 30 min I had just done so in my OCD brain all of that exercise and sweat didn’t happen. Soooooo what did I do????Yep, I did the whole thing again because the watch didn’t show the calories burned and I had to see it there or it didn’t happen. I told my husband what I did, because in my brain that was totally normal. He tried to gently explain that it wasn’t “normal” and that I had become obsessed. I wear the Apple Watch now and don’t have to worry about it timing out like the old Polar so I don’t have to do workouts twice anymore🤔😂

I recently downloaded and evaluated a handful of weight training apps for tracking sets, reps, and rest periods on Apple Watch (without phone nearby).

I wanted something that was free or cheap (no large subscription fees).

“Strong” and “Hevy” made the cut for my needs. In both cases, the free tier works great for me!

I’ve just downloaded Hevy and absolutely love it

Agreed! Similarly addicted to my AW regarding workouts and also regarding sleep quality. So many metrics! I'm good with it though.... we can improve what we can measure.

My question I’ve had is what’s more accurate, Apple Watch tracking or app opened up through phone tracking? I track my cardio using Nike Run Club and when I go hiking watch tells me I burn near 800 calories, but when I track with my app through the phone I barely pass 300 calories! I’m not sure which one is more effective and which one I should lean on for accurate results

I once told a friend “if your exercise tracker doesn’t track your workout, are you really exercising at all?” He laughed. I laughed. But we knew deep down we both believed in it

Even though there's a giant timer/clock on my gym's wall I feel naked without my watch's timer between weight sets.

Same, I forgot to start the fitness tracker on the watch only to feel like my workout wasn’t complete afterwards.

Same way. If my watch is out of battery. I will literally count my steps so I can log them manually.

Wouldn’t it be easier to backtrack your path using google maps, and converting distance into steps? Just an idea.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

That's... insane. Your phone can track your steps instead.

What app you use to track lifts?

Why do I see Mr Burns saying “Excellent” when I think of Apple in this scenario? https://tenor.com/rscH.gif

If I forget to start a weight training workout, I just run it later after I'm done.

the watch has your heart rate during your workout so i'd like to think it was more accurate

Arrived at the gym and realized I left my watch, so I went back to get it.

I see no problem with this. =)

Bent Over. Ah a work out for working.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

This is normal behaviour, same with headphones. But if you forget a towel, play on.

I recently found “other” under workouts and now use it for anything that gets my heart rate up. Spent an hour and a half a half this morning doing food prep and you bet I logged it

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I use “Other” often - cleaning house, walking during shopping, etc. It’s all about closing those rings 😅!

The other day I was doing lane timing for a swim meet and three times in three hours Watch notified me of elevated heart rate. I should have logged it as a workout.

About to turn my anxiety attacks into a workout. Sweet!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I was chopping and stacking firewood the other day and I put on traditional strength training workout

Oh that’s dope. I didn’t know you could do that.
