Maple leaves are pretty recognizable. There's a whole entire country that's got one on its flag.

Split the middle. Japanese Maple Tree leaves look almost identical to Marijuana leaves.

Fake news, Canada's not a real country, it's made up, like unicorns, or gypsies.

Birds aren't real

[-] lettruthout@lemmy.world 97 points 2 years ago

(four leaf) clover have to be in the top five most recognizable too

[-] NoIWontPickAName@kbin.earth 74 points 2 years ago

I think Canada would like a word

I always recognize the Canadian flag because of the iconic marijuana leaf

I see it didn’t take long for the anti-Canada lobby to arrive.

Canada would like to have a word

Canada: Am I a joke to you?

[-] texasspacejoey@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 years ago

Yes. This country certainly is right now

[-] Lemmeenym@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago

Have you seen South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut?

[-] GrumpyBike1020@monero.town 38 points 2 years ago

As much as I wish this were true, even little kids can recognize clover leaf.

If I had to rate recognition I think it would be:

  1. Clover
  2. Fern
  3. Maple
  4. Cannabis
[-] lgmjon64@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago

I feel like oak is also in the top 5. Possibly even higher than cannabis.

[-] Infynis@midwest.social 6 points 2 years ago

Depends on where you live. We don't have any oaks where I grew up. I couldn't tell you what their leaves look like

[-] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Individual leaves of clover definitely aren't that recognizable.

[-] MyTurtleSwimsUpsideDown@fedia.io 6 points 2 years ago

The leaf is the set of leaflets.

[-] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Ahh yes that's correct. My bad.

[-] ArkhamNightshift@lemmy.world 17 points 2 years ago

Shamrocks are pretty recognisable too.

[-] Donjuanme@lemmy.world 14 points 2 years ago

Pine needles?

Maple leafs

Four leaf covers

Palm fronds?

Pineapple leafs are pretty identifiable

[-] Infynis@midwest.social 11 points 2 years ago

A pineapple leaf on its own could be any kind of long thin leaf though. It's only on a pineapple that they're obvious

[-] harrys_balzac@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 2 years ago

Sorry, maple leaf for the win.

[-] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Have to say oak myself, at least in the northern hemisphere.

[-] MyTurtleSwimsUpsideDown@fedia.io 1 points 2 years ago

Pointy oak, round oak or broad oak?

[-] BastingChemina@slrpnk.net 5 points 2 years ago

Palm leaves ?

[-] PierreKanazawa@fedia.io 4 points 2 years ago

Nah, it risks getting mixed up with maple's.

Haven't you seen any Gingko biloba?

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.
