"Growing the beard" refers to the opposite of jumping the shark; i.e. when a show dramatically improves in quality. In the series Star Trek: The Next Generation the second season is considered to be better in terms of storytelling over the first season. This shift coincided with character William Riker, who was clean-shaven for the first season, growing a mustache and beard that he retained for the second season and most Star Trek media afterwards.

I've been rewatching TOS recently, and I noticed that Chekov's hair had a mind of its own for a while. I took a few screenshots, looked up the story behind it, and made this really quick for anyone like me who wasn't aware.

Roddenberry wanted Chekov to bring in the youth audience, so they gave him a wig to try to make him look like he's from the Monkees or the Beatles... absolutely hilarious.

I dont know if this was a fevered dream or it really happened, but what happened next was lady quark grabbed the yamok sauce and started pouring it all over its front and that's how I knew I was Ferengi-sexual. Can we add an F to the acronym and a gold pressed latinum bar to the flag?

This community is great! Your memes are hilarious. I send them to my friends every day. My friends hate me. I love you though.

The volume here is way too high for me, so I had to unsubscribe. If we ever get custom feeds (so I can have a feed for News, and for Memes, etc.) then I'll be back in a heartbeat.

Thank you all for so many laughs!
