i remember it was in black and white. i distinctly remember there was a part of the movie where stand-up ramen shops and been made illegal, so the protagonist goes to a clandestine ramen shop.

also there was a scene where the protagonist had to use the bathroom really bad, but the toilets had all been closed off or deactivated, and because he couldn't bring himself to relieve himself on the floor or whatever, he passed out.

also there was definately a mission impossible 1 type scene where the protagonist was in a room, i don't remember what happened in the scene, but at the end of the scene the room was revealed to be a fake room like on a soundstage or such, with the walls being hastily put up prop walls to convince him he was in a real place.

the whole movie had kind of a Kafka's the trial vibe, but i do not remember what the movie was about, just those scenes. anyone know what movie it was?

i think whatever happened in the fake room took place right after he passed out in the bathroom, like he woke up there and there was a scene in that room that was then revealed to be a stage.

Maybe it's Branded to Kill?

looks interesting! it's not that, this was not an action movie, and I thiiiink that the main character was a salaryman, nothing so exciting as an assassin. I think the film was more abstract than a crime or thriller film would allow. like I said, more like the trial where there's an abstract menace of government the protagonist is contending with.

Surreal movie about ramen, is it Tampopo? It's not black and white but it's fantastic
