I feel like this should be sorted by average points per game

wtf we’ve only lost 6 euro matches?

guess it makes sense if we have a high percentage of making it out of the groups, as a loss eliminates us. still crazy

Also the advantage of simply not qualifying if your team is ""proper shit"", Italy never lost more than one game at an EC even when you went out in groups. You even managed to get knocked out in groups without a loss in 2004. Germany in contrast always qualified but has a lot of ECs with 2 losses, often that infamous 2nd group stage game, and sometimes even had 2 losses in group stages (2000).

lol pls tell me ur joking Maria

The lac operon has a single promoter. The genes encode proteins that allow the bacteria to use lactose for energy.

Why would the lactose operon be switched on in the presence of glucose? There is already a source of energy, you fucking idiot.

This is basic biochemistry. Why the fuck would the operon be activated, does that make any sense?!??

Croatia doing better than Yugoslavia with 3 times as many wins is pretty impressive

Top 15 with only 3 euros is quite an achievement (1980 never happened)

I mean we were in a group with West Germany, Netherlands and Czechoslovakia. We still managed a draw with the eventual champions, not bad for a first tournament!

At that time only 8 teams qualified too

It's pretty crazy we have barely made it to any euros before 1996 and yet so high in these standings (Portugal by the end of the next Euros could potentially be 2nd in this list)

A short story of Denmark and Turkey shitting the bed.

  • source
  • [–] [B] 1 point 2 years ago

Türkiye will actually participate in Euro 2024 for the 6th time. Euro 1996, Euro 2000, Euro 2008, Euro 2016, Euro 2020.

3 defeats in 1996, quarter-final in Euro 2000, Euro 2008 was semi-final and semi-final match, there were only 3 players on the bench, 1 of whom was a goalkeeper. It always reached the semi-finals with last minute goals. It participated in Euro 2016 thanks to a very interesting combination in the last match of the qualifiers. 6-7 different conditions had to be met. Euro 2020 was attended with great expectations and is the 2nd worst European Championship tournament performance in history.

There is always action. It's not ordinary. There is a lot of excitement and surprises.

Asterisk on Denmark - the National team was amateurs only until 1971, up until then, as soon as you became a professional footballer, you were ineligible for the National team. It took a further ten years for professional football culture to properly take hold and dictate ambitions and training. A lot of our "all time" stats are affected by literally fielding a bunch of amateurs long after most other nations had gone full professional.

Surprisingly accurate ranking of the historical top teams in Europe imo. Maybe Portugal and England should switch places but other than that? Italy and Germany on par, clearly the top 2 nations by a margin
