Windows 11 repeatedly promoting Edge, Onedrive and Phone link annoyed me. There must be a "Don't remind me again." checkbox.

Firefox has been reliable. Brave seems ๐Ÿ‘. I haven't wanted Edge as my main.

I already have a Onedrive account. It was reliable. I haven't needed the Onedrive system tray icon. I just went to onedrive.com. On the other hand, I've had the Dropbox system tray icon.

I haven't wanted to use Phone link.

Have you considered switching to Linux?

No. The promotions annoyed me but not extremely. Anyway, it's been ๐Ÿ‘ to know I could always switch to Linux. There's @level1linux if I wanna know more re Linux. I think Wendell's an expert.

I recently got a laptop, and going through all the bloatware pushed me to try Linux Mint after not using a Linux OS in a Decade. I think the only reason I'll use Windows at this point is for specific games or software that can't run on Linux for whatever reason (anti cheat and whatnot).

There are LTSC versions of Windows 10 and 11 which aren't constantly getting feature updates and have much less unnecessary crap built in. They're also supported for much longer. I've been using this version of 10 for ages and haven't had half of the issues most people complain about.

A tool like O&O Shutup also helps cut down on BS.

I try.

Not everyone can use Linux, so I try to offer what might work for those who have no other option than Windows.

I think even 11 pro is quieter on bs

You can uninstall OneDrive through the apps list in settings, and that should revert your Documents folders to be locally stored. I haven't noticed the other two prompting reminders recently on my Windows PC and can't recommend a way to disable them.

Windows 11 didn't enable Onedrive in my Documents, Pictures and others. I've used local storage since I bought my ๐Ÿ’ป. I hope Windows 11 won't suddenly enable Onedrive. Folks will riot if they'll do such a ๐Ÿ’ฉ act.

There's an option to stop it. I don't remember where.

LETS FINISH SETTING UP YOUR PC

[OK] [Remind me in 3 days]

But no [Fuck off forever] button.

When I have the time I'll be defenestrating that os
