It is more likely that Vladimir Putin would rehire Yevgeny Prigozhin as his chef than Canadians would believe in a kinder and gentler Pierre Poilievre.

What a well written article lol. I think it's right though. Being an outspoken jackass gets you the Conservative leadership job, but it doesn't win you a general election.

I feel like the Liberals are reaching their best-before date. Canadians get tired of the same PM after a while and want a change.

I wouldn't be surprised if Trudeau gets blamed for inflation and the upcoming recession and Poilievre wins the job as a protest vote.

It'd be cool if someone else got the job, but I'm not holding my breath.

Could it be that [...] voters were more interested in ideas and policies than tirades and drive-by smears?

This.

"Hair guy bad, vote me and it'll be better; because it will, that's why" is a terrible platform. But it's all I've seen. There's been nothing positive that will help regular (non-rich) Canadians; and an endorsement by Mr Harper has less value away from the Tuscany region of Calgary.

Personally, I like how our Orange conscience is beating up the Red a bit. We could get some properly-funded actual benefits where every study shows they will actually do the most good (ie no trickle-down lies). If the odds of a Majority-Red government really are low, and we have the chance of someone (other than the cruel conservatives) working as Justin's conscience, that could continue the growth we've seen, and that would be a very good thing.
