I'm feeling so much more confident in my trans identity, I te s kind of crazy. I'm at a point where I'm getting more confident removing hair and such.

I'm getting to a point where I'm getting super interested in makeup, especially foundation and contouring to cover my nasty shit and hide my big nose and all..

Also, I so want to get more feminine clothes. A skirt, a dress, something, but idk what, or how to get something to fit my shape?

Basically, I want something new, I have a couple avenues, but I strongly don't know how to do either.

I think you're asking for advice, so here's mine on makeup: practice makes perfect.

It is an art, like sketching, painting, or anything else. Even if you find a good tutorial, you're still going to need to practice. Part of your learning process may include an afternoon where you apply makeup, wipe it off, and apply a few more times so that you can really hone in on some things.

Don't be afraid of cheap makeup, especially while you're learning. Once you know what works for you, then you may decide you want to get some fancier products.

One of the first things I would want to get is some kind of quality remover πŸ˜‚

That makes sense, it being an art.

Before, I had thought of it as more intimidating because I was thinking all in on everything, but recently realized, I could ease into it with more subtle things, which makes it feel more attainable and maybe more exciting to consider?

Just as a tip: oil based make up removers have worked waayyy better for me and also feel much nicer :)

Clothes are a bit slower than makeup as you first need t grow your wardrobe. You'll first need to learn how to go shopping, as you probably, like most of us, never got to that before. It's hard to explain, getting someone who knows how to come with you helps tremendosly. But for starters, I'd say imagne how you want to look like, not detailed, but loosly. Take that image, go shopping and find matches. Don't worry about complete fits, that will take a couple hauls. Idk, get what feels right, like what you always wanted, how you want to look like and in a couple hauls, try to match what you've gotten and bam, you should have a couple of fits to work with.

I would recommend against online shopping first, as you need to find out your size first, then go online shpping all you want.(crap stores like amazon and temo, sell crap, best avoid them) If you worry about not passing while running around in the woman section, randomly say stuff like "oh she's gonna like this" or something like that while ppl are in earshot, it helps. Try out high waist clothes, you probably don't have a broad waist like most of us, so low waist stuff usually is a big nono. Check out ICKY, she has some cool clothing guides if you're interested.

Oh yeah and pro tipp, remember the store (chain) you got the best clothes from, you might want to come back.

There is so much more, I'll try to tell if you got this so far....

Try some nail polish and there's colored chapstick for an easy start, take something with a near natural color.

For clothing you could try a fetish store if you can find one in your area because the people working there have seen everything and so you'll feel safer. They can probably help you. Alternatively you could try a store that has unisex clothing for a first step. And also stockings can be cheap and they are flexible in fit, so you could order those online.

For foundation you'll definitely need some support, so maybe that's quite a big step for you. Because it needs to be the right color for your skin.

For choosing the right foundation, the local drug store had little test bottles from which you can drop some color on the skin to try out in-store (as well as a mirror and some remover and paper towels), so we really didn't need to talk there to anyone find a decent color. (This might not be a universal concept though.)

As a follow-up to this: If you just want to browse go one of the big chains with large stores (like H&M). You can spend hours there gwacking at bras (or whatever else you fancy) and try on as much as you like and no-one will care or even bat an eye over it. (Just don't do it right before closing, the underpaid staff really hates staying overtime for you. πŸ˜…)

On the other hand, the smaller stores tend to offer a more interesting selection (you'll find out fast enough if you happen to like theirs or not) and the staff can be helpful (or terrible, kinda a luck thing apparently) once you have an idea of what you like.

I've been playing with nail polish for a bit, and definitely enjoy it as a bit of a creative outlet on top of personal expression.

I had not thought of a fetish store, I'm not sure if I have one or not, but will definitely keep that in mind. I've been trying to figure out my skin tone so I can get a reasonable idea of where to start.

One of the first things I bought after cracking was those "programmer socks" the thigh highs, but it turns out I'm too thick for "one size fits all" πŸ˜…

[–] [email protected] 1 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I think I know which ones you mean. But have you tried the thin ones? Those are super stretchy and come in many sizes. Just try the largest ones, but there's always the sizes written on the back. I imagine those are also visible when you buy them online.

I think I know what you are getting at, but could you share an example?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago (1 children)

@Blahaj_Blast @xilliah have you looked at sockdreams.com? I’ve got a couple thigh highs from them and they offer socks for everyone regardless of size and gender.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago (1 children)

I think I have heard of them! Is that the company that has larger sizes catering more towards transfem people?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago

@Blahaj_Blast Yup, that’s them.

I don't have much advice, but I'm in a very similar place, and I appreciate you asking and generating discussion.

Glad to be of service! o7
