I've done all of the things that you said you would be doing, as have many of us (many more than voted for Trump). Our election system is broken. Not seeming to understand that comes off as victim-blaming. That's why we're defensive about the "dO sOmEtHiNg" posts. WE FUCKING DID.

Well the system was stable enough to put Biden in (on 68% turnout) so something must work. That’s the issue; there’s evidence from that, the Republicans, several state reps now, Mamdani, which is a broad cross section of recently elected, that claim doesn’t necessarily stand and when it’s raised, we’re told we don’t understand. It counters the broken system claim, on inspection.

I don’t think the protest numbers match the turnout for Trump either. I know there were protests and I know they were big but that’s around 70 million who voted for Trump wasn’t it? Maybe. I’d want a source on that though.

Either way you’re going to have to keep doing them, get lucky with a vote or go down. As we will if it comes to us. This has been going on a long time. They were repeatedly warned for years, were given a trial run, the react vote on the first run was the highest turnout they had, proving turning out works.

Why are the rest of us expected to accept this? We wouldn’t get the excuses accepted. I get a bit tired of this ‘don’t understand’ line.

We're told we don't understand

Because you clearly don't. The NYC mayoral election and state rep races are not decided by the national electoral college. If you're tired of being told you don't understand, stop loudly misunderstanding so much.

But the national one is, isn’t it, and Biden won that one before the last one with the biggest turnout for a presidential yet.

Explain that one then.

It’s not misunderstanding, it’s an easy, whiny excuse, which is why it’s so commonly used and that how the rest of us see it. That is literally why I gave broad examples…because it’s an excuse.

Stop whining and finding excuses.
