How serious is Toyota about building a hydrogen combustion engine? CarBuzz has just found a patent for the engine design filed in the United States instead of at home. It shows some of the differences between gas and hydrogen engines, and what Toyota has to do to make the idea work.

Toyota kicked around hydrogen fuel cells as a concept for more than 20 years, I'd be amazed if this new patent led to anything within a decade, then again I'm happy to be wrong

Fantastic. What's it going to be next? Horse drawn carriages? Steam engines?
