Got suspended for criticising spez. So now I'm spending my time here and have already setup communities for [email protected] and [email protected]. Good riddance to Reddit.

Side note: the fact I can make a post and comment on a community in a completely different instance without having to make multiple accounts is awesome.

Not just a completely different instance, but a completely different platform. This thread is hosted on kbin, you and me are posting from lemmy, how awesome is that?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Probably a dumb question as I'm new to all of this, but how can you tell where someone is posting from?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

On Kbin, hover the mouse over the "more" menu under the post/replies and click on "copy URL to fediverse", that will send you to the original instance.

On kbin, if you over over a persons name, the popout shows the @ of where they're from.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Oh, cool! I should have figured that out, lol. Thanks!!

You can even read en reply to Kbin or Lemmy thread from Mastodon. I tested it myself and it's awesome.

Welcome, I came over earlier this week. Once you get your head around different instances and people from kbin and mastodon answering in teh same post (which is cool) and the occasional errors (or isues when errors don't appear whe they should) which should be patched soon, hopefully, lemmy seems to give more freedom than reddit.

You done a bad thing… you done a bad, bad, no-good thing.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm a bad girl, what can I say. He's starting to ban people just for mentioning Lemmy too lol.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

How do I subscribe to a Lemmy community from kbin PWA?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

If it doesn’t show up in the search on the magazine tab you can just add it in the address bar like so:
https://kbin.social/m/[email protected]
But it’s not working…

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Communities/magazines don't sync right away, someone has to try to access the community from kbin first then in the background the federating starts. Sometimes is takes a while but once it's done all the new posts/comments will show up but not the older stuff. It looks like the pathfinder2e is working now at least for me.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

For me it shows "empty" and only 5 subscribers.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

That's because the back catalogue of posts don't get sent when you subscribe, any more than the back catalogue of magazines get sent if you subscribe to National Geographic.

@ShellSurf

@Imotali

another way is to search for it in the magazines list but leave out the exclamation mark.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Awesome thanks. Also, now I have experience with my first notification since you tagged me. Learning!
