He’s got a legacy, though: it’s “the man who lost the Republic”. History books will not look kindly on him, regardless of whether or not the current regime tries to pin more random crap on him. In the future, the best possible light that he will be seen in will be deeply unflattering.
He won his election. It's not entirely his fault the Democratic party is a part of the whole corrupt mess. He did more than most to prevent this.
I don't think there are many Americans who are in a position to sit on their high horse at the moment. The entire thing has failed, top to bottom. I think history will study it as a societal failure more than a political one.
“But but he was supposed to be a silver bullet! It’s his fault the country is in a multi decade assault by conservative autocrats! I’m voting Green Party to really show em!”
