The biggest mistake of the civil war was not rounding up the ringleaders and hanging them like they loved to do to runaway "property".
Fucking slavers deserved it.
"How many slave-owners died during the Civil War?"
"Not enough."
Paying the price for that mistake to this very day.
Imagine how much income they'd have made for reconstruction efforts by charging to attend, sponsor, or participate.
Treat the South like an occupied nation, seize the assets of those responsible for bankrolling the armies, bankrolling the nation, and then hang or imprison them.
