U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday expressed his vehement support for French far-right politician Marine Le Pen, with a withering tirade against the court decision that knocked her out of the running for French president.

"It's just possible that you, a sentient being with active sensory input, have cause for concern about the security of data hosted both in the United States and by Microsoft. GitHub has been ubiquitous and indispensable for technologists. But maybe it's time to reconsider that status."

Meta is worried that the expected DMA ruling against Meta’s “pay or consent” model could impact its European revenue, which accounts for almost a quarter of its overall earnings, by forcing the company to allow European users to limit personalized ads on Facebook and Instagram for free.

The article title is a bit of a misnomer because apparently they only surveyed western Europeans rather than people across Europe. But still it's interesting.

These survey results appear in the article:

A graph showing the percentages of people in seven European countries who support retaliatory tariffs against the USA. 79% of people in Denmark either support or fully support such tariffs. The other countries listed are Sweden, Spain, France, the UK, Germany, and Italy. Italy has the lowest level of combined support and strong support, at 56%. More details can be seen at the article that this post links to.

France, Ireland and Europe’s powerful farming unions are pushing Brussels to drop many food and drink products from its proposed retaliation against US tariffs.

The European Commission has received floods of objections from business and member states to its list of measures, underlining how the 27 member block might struggle to respond collectively to US pressure.

Jack Chambers, Ireland’s public expenditure minister, warned against “retaliatory and tit-for-tat measures that could worsen a trade dispute” on Friday while Italian prime minister Giorgia Meloni told the FT the EU should negotiate over its high duties on some items.

“There are big differences on the single goods,” she said. “That’s what we have to work on to find a good, common solution.”
