An athlete convicted of committing credit card fraud against one of her national teammates has won an Olympic gold medal for France in the women’s 15km biathlon, beating her victim to do it.

Julia Simon, 29, was handed a €15,000 fine and a three-month suspended sentence last October after she was found to have spent more than €2,000 using card details belonging to Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, also 29, who finished in 80th place in the same race. A third member of the French team, Lou Jeanmonnot, won the silver.

Simon was also found to have used the card details of the team physiotherapist to make purchases between 2021 and 2022. She denied the crime for three years, claiming she had been a victim of identity theft, before finally admitting her guilt in a court hearing in Albertville last October after she was found to have photos of the credit card on her phone. “I confess the accusations but I don’t remember committing them,” she said at the time. “It’s like a blackout.”

That last line is gold

In a release Tuesday, Moderna said the FDA did not identify any safety or efficacy concerns with the vaccine. Instead, it said the FDA took issue with the “comparator” in its clinical trial — the vaccine the company used as a benchmark to evaluate its own shot.

The FDA said the use of the standard flu shot as a comparator “does not reflect the best-available standard of care.” The standard flu shot is FDA-approved.

Last year, Kennedy ordered that all new vaccines go through placebo-controlled clinical trials.

When vaccines are already available for a disease, it's considered unethical to give clinical trial participants a placebo, rather than compare the new vaccine to the existing one. Giving a placebo would leave people who would be otherwise protected vulnerable to infection.

So glad we have someone competent leading the FDA. /s

Tennessee state Rep. Monty Fritts (R), who is running for governor

It's fucked up that he's already an elected official

I have mostly silent reflux, so it's really hard to tell. This adventure started when I had been coughing with a sore throat for about 4 months, started seeing doctors at that point. Those symptoms continue and I have a new diagnosis of barretts esophagus so it's important I tackle the reflux and limit the behavior that could further the progression of barretts.

Thank you for posting this. I'm on day 12 of a diet to control my reflux symptoms and I feel awful and run down. Was worried I'd never hit that 'increased energy' I had read about.

MINNETONKA, Minn. — Hennepin County confirms two people were arrested by ICE agents who were waiting outside courtrooms in Minnetonka Monday.

A spokesperson said more than a dozen federal agents were deployed in a waiting area outside the courtrooms at the Ridgedale Service Center and took the two people into custody. The county did not provide details on why they were arrested.

"Under federal law, ICE agents have the authority to enforce immigration laws anywhere within the United States. Hennepin County facilities, including courthouses, including spaces that are open to the public, including federal, state, and local law enforcement agents who may be performing their official duties," read a statement shared with KARE 11.

The statement clarifies that there are Hennepin County facilities that are non-public, like employee workspaces or secure areas, that are not accessible to federal authorities without a warrant or "proper authorization."

Hennepin County also affirmed its commitment to "maintaining a safe and accessible environment for everyone who uses our facilities, including residents, employees and visitors," noting the importance of balancing public safety with the protection of individual rights.

KARE 11 has reached out to federal authorities at the Department of Homeland Security for additional details on the incident, and will update this story if or when the department responds.

You didn't append this to your path, you just overwrote the whole value. You'll need to use full paths to commands to edit the file and fix it like export PATH="$PATH:/the/new/path/to/add"
