Some people have no respect for history it seems.
This is the last remaining Kmart in the continental US. The other two are in Guam and the US Virgin Islands. Unfortunately, they've downsized it to just the former garden center now. Think of it like a convenience store rather than a traditional Kmart. That said, the small space they were still using did look decently stocked. I hope they survive.
No, I was on vacation there anyway and thought why not visit them.
Nah I just happen to live near the Concord location and visited all the Florida locations when I went on vacation there. The list is just public knowledge.
As I mentioned, the top floor isn't easily accessible and yeah there weren't too many people shopping there when I visited. That said, I don't feel comfortable taking pictures of strangers in any case.
They do still operate sears.com if you don't have a physical store nearby anymore. Keep in mind most listings these days are third party but there is a "sold by Sears" filter.
The prices are very good actually. Everything's always on some kind of sale.
Believe it or not, but the US still has Kmart as well. :p

I did visit the Kmart in Miami last month! :p There are still three Kmart stores and five Sears stores open in the US.
Sears:
- Braintree, MA (Boston)
- Concord, CA (San Francisco)
- Coral Gables, FL (Miami)

- Orlando, FL
Kmart:
- Kendale Lakes, FL (Miami)
- Saint Thomas, USVI
- Tamuning, Guam
The manager of the Concord store did tell me their sales figures are on the rise again. :p When they became the last location in California last year, that's when all the "nostalgia tourists" started coming in haha.
Here are some pictures I took of the top floor of the Orlando store when I went on vacation to Florida last month. (I'm a regular at the Concord location)
Out of the five remaining Sears stores that are still open today, I'm lucky enough to be able to say I've visited three of them now. I'd say Coral Gables is the best looking one, followed by Concord, followed by Orlando. The top floor in Orlando still looks alright, the issue is just that it's only accessible via an elevator at the end of a long corridor as two thirds of the bottom floor are an active construction site at the moment as they are planning to subdivide the space between Sears and a Round 1 that's apparently going to move in.
I've deleted the other two posts now. I've had the same issue before, not sure why. The first time I've clicked the submit button, it didn't do anything and the second time it said "error".
Winter clothing is starting to come in. There's a bunch of new clothes in store!
Other than that not too much has changed, however they did mention they wanted to remove the last remaining checkout downstairs since the bottom floor has been turned into a warehouse. The new owners of Sunvalley Mall aren't requesting them to keep the bottom entrance open anymore so it's permanently closed now.
