Kinda hilarious when you read it like that with the username.

I wonder if there are any completely FOSS and non-profit SBC organizations / hardware. Maybe something with a RISC-V chip. Seems like there's more than enough interest. With some research it looks like there's the beaglebone but isn't blob free and the olimex but they are a for-profit.

I would say the new social network addiction but yes, another dopamine trap.

Same game, new field. Social networks and smartphones were the more recent dopamine traps.

Yeah using the GPS band for comms is a thing. Or if you're an adversary you can transmit comms on the same band but more powerful to block GPS signals which is exactly what one nation in particular has been doing.

They're very welcome here in Africa, a lot of people are still operating with button phones that have no smartphone capabilities and most definitely don't have AI. There's rural areas where they would be contently away from most technological advancement going as far back as they want really. If they dislike electricity then there are definitely places without it or if they want electricity but dislike internet then there are places like that.

Yeah disposable vape pens are a massive e-waste. Usually the batteries and electronics are still totally functional. There was a YouTuber making a large rechargeable battery from discharded vape pens although you really need to have the same make and model to pull that off as you need the cells to be mostly identical at to avoid the possibility of it exploding or catching fire. So yeah if you can collect hundreds of the same disposable vape pen you can build yourself a pretty serious battery.

Yes from my understanding all of the current genocides are still well underway unfortunately. Israel, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Myanmar, and China are all still active in their extermination of a group of people.

I've decreased my cost of living dramatically and increased my quality of life partly by decreasing my desire for stuff and by living somewhere much cheaper. Monthly costs went from $3000 for necessities down to $400. That's rent, utilities, food, transport and so on. Now I can chill near the beach and just enjoy a slower pace of life.

I bought an rpi 3 for $35, the exact same board is now selling for around $50+ I think that's more so what I'm comparing. Typically old hardware decreases in price over a decade, not increase.
