This is going to be an incredibly important series. We're a full game out of a playoff spot, and the Mariners are on a crazy run right now. We're coming up on a so-called easy part of our schedule, but we have to stay close to the M's and the Astros in the wildcard or it's going to be tough to regain that lost ground.
That is a really good point. I would love to be able to crack the active users code, but I'm not entirely sure how to entice people to contribute either. I think it's just down to the 1/9/90% thing where 1% of a community will be active users who post, comment and upvote within the community, 9/10% percent will upvote and occasionally comment, and the remaining 90% will be lurkers just reading occasionally. We are now up to ~350 users here which is amazing, and the amount of daily active users is pretty close to that 1% mark usually with about 5-10 of us who comment here semi regularly. I would love to attract more people here so that statistically speaking we have more and more people contributing.
The thought behind adding bot replies, schedules etc, is to potentially lure in the people who'd prefer an all in one experience, and/or spur community engagement with those posts/comments. Although I do fully appreciate your point about that potentially creating an environment where there's more bot activity than real humans, and that's obviously not something I want either. We are one of the biggest if not the biggest sports and specifically baseball communities on Lemmy already, so maybe we should just let the community grow naturally and avoid polluting the space with bot content.
I think that's more on the third base coach there. He was calling it a homer as Reese was trotting towards third. By the time Reese turned around to look himself, he was already around third and it was too late.
Lets GO! Paxton secret agent??
I'll take a first pitch ๐ฃ any day
Ok, so that was scary. I hope Ward is ok. You could definitely see some swelling around his eye and cheekbone.
The dome needs an organ player. The 5 sound bits we play over and over were cool 10 years ago, but they've run their course now. We need some new sounds at the ballpark.
One more decent start like that and he should be coming back! I think they mentioned on the broadcast yesterday wanting to get him up to around 80 pitches in rehab starts. Only 14 pitches to go!
Absolute clutch win. Team we needed to beat, and we were able to come though, fight off the no-hit day yesterday, fight off being down in the 9th today, and beat a team we should.
Dominate. If we get Manoah and Ryu back at anywhere near their best, also Chad Green (who I haven't heard about at all since we signed him) this team is going to be unstoppable. Maybe we go to some kind of 6 man rotation to keep all the arms more rested, or maybe we stash Kikuchi in the bullpen for long relief for bad starts. Gives Schneider the ability to have a shorter leash on guys, because we have someone who can eat innings waiting in the bullpen.
๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค I'm currently crossing all appendages for Manoah's start tonight. Hoping he's back to his dominant self. If we have half the Manoah we had last year, the AL East is not out of reach.
Gutsy win last night! Gotta keep it rolling though because the Mariners refuse to lose.
