Introductions Are Hard

Hi!
I'm gonna try to do an introduction post, bear with me.
I go by Rin (shocked this name wasn't taken already, it's fairly popular) primarily, especially these days online. I'm on one other Lemmy instance, but thought this one looked friendly too, so I decided to stick my head out of hiding and see what was up.
Some things about me!
- I live with 3 dogs and a Creature ™ (he's theoretically dog shaped, so we call him a dog) and the latter and one of the other dogs are mine. All four are rescues from Texas that have mostly traumatic backstories except the one who was part of an "oops litter" that got handed over to a rescue to place the dogs. Creature ™ is named Champion and he's a spaniel with some golden retriever in there, while Bowser is a dutch shepherd and plott hound mix.
- I've been playing video games since I was three years old! It's debatable what my first game was, exactly, but it was either Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past, Super Mario World, or Mario Paint. I'm mostly a PC gamer now (I do have a Switch laying around collecting dust for the most part) and I like a lot of different games and genres. For example, very excited about the release of Fields of Mistria out of early access, but was also just rolling around playing some Remnant 2.
- I love writing. I primarily do a lot of roleplay with heavy emphasis on worldbuilding, but I've been burned out on writing by myself for a while. It's been a lot of "create what you want to see" and eventually I got tired of doing that alone when I found out what forum roleplay was. I tend to write a lot of darker topics but I don't actually write the "dark" parts out. Those all go in the history. I'm more interested in writing the healing process and getting characters what they need.
- I've been working on learning Linux while trying to set up some home servers for media and some other things (save me RSS feeds, save me from having to go to Substack to read about tabletop rpgs...) but admittedly I'm not very good at it and I need a lot more practice. I've been at it for at least a year now, but I still feel like I don't know anything, hahaha.
That's about it! As for an ending, if you could be any animal, or Creature ™ that is real (or not!), what would you be?
First, thank you much for suggesting BookOrbit! I actually just installed it because I was having a lot of issues with Grimmory making dupes of books in every folder and couldn't figure out why it was doing it. Haven't had any issues with BookOrbit and I really like that it's got achievements. Plus, the less RAM usage is nice.
I'm using docker and docker compose files! Thank you for answering, the last time I took a crack at selfhosting, I really felt lost and screwed a lot up, so I wasn't sure if that was even possible.
