Ich hab so gar keine Berührungspunkte mit deutschem Fernsehen, dass ich nicht einmal wusste, dass es Wetten Dass noch gibt. Musste über das Maimai aber auf jeden Fall trotzdem Schmunzeln.

Do AI chatbots "remember" previous interactions? Like, I know they do in the context of one dialogue. But when people have these "relationships" over weeks or months does the conversation build on everything that's been said before?

Currently reading Maybe you should talk to someone by Lori Gottlieb, which is absolutely delightful.

It seems only logical to me that if we have tests for people to earn the right to drive a car, then there should also be a possibility of forfeiting that right again.

I sort of get the gun argument but it's not airtight in my opinion. Guns too can be used in harmless ways (shooting as a sport) so by the same logic full rehabilitation would include getting a gun license back.

And sure not having a car can be a big disadvantage, but so is having a criminal record, and we don't stop jailing people because of that. Rehabilitation doesn't mean that all consequences of your crime are undone.

Writing this from Linux which I installed last fall in lieu of the Windows 11 update.
I'm still using both OS via dual boot, and I still have some unresolved issues on Linux, but I will fully transition during the course of this year.
One thing that is really mind-blowing is the difference in performance on my ~7 y/o laptop. My Linux Mint is just lightning fast compared to Windows 10. You can quite literally feel how Windows runs a thousand random things in the background (most of which I never asked for) whereas Linux feels very clean and... empty, but in a good way.

How is the entire state of Minnesota not on a general strike by now? There's a paramilitary group marauding their streets and kidnapping and killing people.

The fact that Trump just randomly tore down part of the White House still makes me laugh.

This is NOT just, ‘Trump being Trump.’ It’s Trump being classless.

...where have you been the last, like, 79 years? Trump is classlessness personified.

Dieses Maimai basiert auf einer wahren Begebenheit.

Advent of Chess (www.adventofchess.com)
submitted 2 months ago by Bonifratz@piefed.zip to c/chess@lemmy.ml

Advent of Chess is an advent calendar by Offerspill, Norway's biggest chess club with World Champion Magnus Carlsen as founder and chairman. The club is open to anyone, and we host weekly tournaments online. For more information about the club and how to join, see our registration page.

Every day until Christmas, you will be able to open a door to reveal a chess problem. Each correctly answered problem is awarded one ticket in the drawing for a chess board signed by Magnus Carlsen!

The problems in the calendar won't be the usual chess problems you'd find in a book of chess puzzles. Instead of finding the best move, you'll get problems where you need to find out which moves have been played in the past, or the sequence of moves that lead to a certain position. You'll find unorthodox problems like helpmates, selfmates, and retrograde analysis problems, but no "Mate in 2" or "White to play and win"!

While he denied the claim, he did admit to getting a massage while at Epstein’s house, although he stated that he kept his underwear on and did not enjoy it.

I guess it's only sexual abuse if you enjoy it...

On a serious note, there is just no bottom to the depravity of the US ruling class, is there?

What does the writer think "effort" means? What does the writer think anything means?
