I'm not misunderstanding you, you are misunderstanding op. the official definition was rejected. I didn't come up with that dumb shit, their opponent did. I'm merely stating that denying that its genocide based on any definition available is fkn stupid, regardless of if its legalistic or layman.

Apologies, Lemmy posted my prior comment before I was done. Please give it a reread. My compose is based heavily on the simple homelab setup, but I remember figuring out how to get Sab and my VPN cooperating off media stack.

Home assistant really benefits from being run as an OS. RaspPI or similar would legit be my recommendation.

For a media server though, I learned mostly by starting with these two repos: https://github.com/geekau/mediastack https://github.com/SimpleHomelab/Docker-Traefik

Both will get you where you want to go. Simple homelab is a much cleaner setup if you actually want to run a server as the compose is separated out into individual includes per container/stack, but is way overkill for your use case, even though the documentation should make it reasonably simple to adapt. Media stack does exactly what you are trying, but the organization of the server isnt as nice, and the associated documentation may be over your head. Its definitely over mine, but I'm a "poke it rill it works" guy and not a "just read the damn instructions" guy.

Yep, I am agreeing with you. The statement was never snap and deb are identical, its that canonical is making them do identical things.

Thats something I find fascinating. People hear anarchy and assume the end of commerce because it would inherently mean an end to capitalism, presuming we arent talking about some weird ancap philosophy that I can't make sense.

Commerce has happened for forever, and changing forms of government will not change that.

Thats not the part I find fascinating though, its that people discussing anarchy tend to cede this argument without a fight.

If you do so, an implied argument of anarchy gets lost: "there is no such thing as unskilled labor."

This isnt generally considered a point for anarchy, but it is. In an anarchist system, you have the agency to decide your role in your community. This means you WILL specialize, as we all do as humans; even the generalists of us aren't generalists at everything. I for one would make a shitty translator, as i only speak English.

There would need to be some means of getting labor done by someone who knew how to do it, this ought to feel natural to most of us anyway... I mean I assume you guys try to help your friends at stuff you are good at that they aren't. I similarly assume you're generally compensated for this behavior, even if it isnt with currency as we generally consider it.

I'm not sure how to interpret "liegal"

Is that a typo of legal or illegal?

[-] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago

Technically true, but I'm thinking they're trying to explain this isn't from a species of scaleless snakes (yet)

Can you share context? Chompsky is pretty focused on US politics, and genocide elsewhere may be a "not my bad, man. I talk about US politics, and am not gonna spend time on a situations where the US isn't involved" which would be a reasonable reason to avoid the topic, or were they "f those guys, the power behind it is anti american."

The only info I can find is that he cagey about callkn something "genocide" in case its not the actual definition. Check his takes on the Uyghurs, he seems to want to be able to fully establish what's occurring before labelling it genocide.

I mean, when your religious institutions define usury as a hellworth trespass, and there are all these "filthy Jews" that are hellbound anyway, why not make an omlette?
