Sorry for the mildly NSFW content here. I did ask this general thing a couple days ago elsewhere but looking back, I wasn’t sure that I clearly stated why I was asking.

I’ll remain vague in case people just don’t want to hear too much about this.

NSFW content was a big reason I used reddit. There was a certain subreddit that was focussed on sharing images of popular adult actresses, as well as being welcoming of some popular influencer type models.

In one post I showed a lot of images from the most commercially active individuals. I’m talking people so popular they end up in memes on SFW subreddits. Of all the NSFW content that is permissible on Reddit, it was among the most permissible sort, on a Reddit built around that very thing.

I woke up to find myself perm banned for breaking rule 3 due to that post. Rule 3 states you can’t post sexualized images of people without their permission.

One exception to the images I posted was a popular model who mostly posts content through social media. I’ve seen her images pop up all over the place by people who are definitely not her. I even searched her name there on this particular subreddit to see that there were posts of her. So I took it to mean it was safe to post her.

Well, I think this is what caused the ban. I believe the image was OF content. This is what I’m pretty sure caused the ban.

I appealed and was turned down fairly quick.

I won’t even argue against my carelessness. But getting that message was genuinely kind of jarring and freaked me out. It made me think I was in some serious trouble. Some basically said “what you have done is tantamount to taking creep shots in public and posting them”.

All I want to know is: how much should my conscious bother me over this? She may not have been the most popular model, but she does show up a ton. To the point that if I came across an image of her I would have assumed it was ok. Just how egregious of a thing have I done?

It’s definitely slower than Reddit.

Just a couple things to keep in mind from what I’ve seen:

If you notice a community hasn’t had a post in a couple months, don’t assume it’s dead. I’ve posted in places that haven’t had activity in months and gotten several replies relatively quickly.

A lot of Lemmy is news and memes. So you might have to get used to embracing that if you aren’t already. Going to “all” and sorting by new is what I mostly do here.

I was kinda sad too, but the further away I get from the time I was banned the more manageable it is. Just give it time 👌

I got perm banned for supposedly breaking Reddit's rule 3.

Basically it just says you can't post sexualized photos of people without their permission.

The photos I shared "without permission", however were of popular, commercially available adult actresses specifically on a subreddit cetered around just that. These people are so popular they appear in memes on SFW subreddits. They have massive subreddits centered around them. Of all the NSFW content allowed on reddit, it is among the most allowed.

The only exception was that I think one of the photos I posted was OF content or something that was intended to be behind a paywall. That's the only guess I have. But even this person shows up all over the place on reddit from people who are definitelt not her.

I won't deny that if that's the case I was being careless. But I tried to appeal, and was denied. I can't get over the fact that supposedly a human looked at that and said that what I did was tantamount to taking a creep shot of someone in public and then posting it to reddit.

I'm fine with never using reddit again, but that had me scared I had found myself in some sort of serious trouble....

Ya know, it's funny...

When Alex Pretti was shot there were a lot of debates about to what extent it was his own fault. Again and again MAGA republicans would bring up things like "Well, his family said he was starting to act weird" or "Well, he kicked a tail light out of a ICE vehicle a week before...". Anything to make him seem like a worse person than he way, as if it should negate any sympathy felt for him.

Well, here's someone saying the ICE officer in this case was not a good person; that he was unstable, and had violent tendencies. What will MAGA say about him I wonder? Will they remain consistent and say: "Yes, it makes perfect sense that an unstable person with a gun cannot be trusted in these high intesnity situations. He is not a hero"?

I'm not counting on it, personally.

I meant in terms of posting NSFW content that isn’t me.

Like posting a pic of a porn actress on a place focussed on her.

Edit: Or commenting on said images.

They know that, too. They don’t even care to hide it anymore.

This is the most relatable thing I’ve seen all week.

What a way to remember Lincoln…

If this level of carelessness happened around a confederate monument republicans would lose their shit.

I am currently using Lemmy.zip through the app voyager.

I can also see content from other places like hexbear and fedinsfw.

If I login to lemmy.zip on a desktop I can use my voyager credentials. But I am only able to view lemmy.world and nothing else here.

If I login to fedinsfw on desktop I can seemingly access a multitude of places such as I can on voyager, including lemmy.zip.

I’m sorry if this is such a dumb thing to get confused about. I’ve heard explanation for what all this is, but I’m still just not quite sure I understand.

Got banned for rule 3.

I’ll stay vague here for the sake of not giving TMI, but I will answer questions about specifics if needed.

I was on a NSFW sub dedicated to famous people in the industry. I shared some images there of some of these people as it’s pretty much the whole point of the sub.

Everything I shared was commercially produced, and legally available for free. These were not random individuals. These were some of the most well known people as far as this goes. Their faces show up in memes on SFW subs.

There is possibly one exception to this however, and I think this may be the reason I was banned. I was under the impression one of them was well seated in the commercial industry. But I’m thinking, actually, they mostly do content through social media and OF. Still, this person pop up everywhere on reddit from people who are definitely not her.

The message I got did not specify, but this is my best guess why I got banned. I did appeal, and it was rejected. Part of me thinks it’s something else. But I have no idea what it would be.

On one hand I’m kinda miffed that I was banned for posting popular adult actresses on a subreddit that was made for posting popular adult actresses.

On the other hand I’m not sure how bad I should feel about this.
