I literally sat in my car during a 2 hour lunch break yesterday because my colleagues went to different places and I wasn’t explicitly invited to any of them. Anxiety is fun.
I’m very grateful that my district where I teach has very specific library guidelines. Books cannot be challenged based on gender or sexual identity only. Books cannot be removed based on a single passage or paragraph, it must be removed or retained on the content of the entire book. Challenges may only come from parents, employees, or those that reside in the community and they must read the material in its entirety, and then they are excluded from the committee that makes the final decision to retain or remove the book. Once challenged the book cannot be challenged again for 5 years, and only one challenge can happen at a time. Of course, I feel my district would bend very quickly at any state or federal pressure, but at least for now the libraries are left to those who have degrees in library science and hold teaching licenses.
Not saying this isn’t real and completely scummy, but sometimes the tip is calculated before discounts, gift cards, and whatnot. I always tip based on what our total order was even if what we paid was less. If this is truly trying to fudge the numbers to take advantage of people then that’s shitty.
Yes, but I work in an elementary school and she goes to preschool full time so it’s not bad to be cautious
Then she ate a salad from Costco: an “everything” chopped salad kit with poppy seeds.
My three year old got her first round of Covid vaccines as soon as she was able to and then boosters ever since. My husband and I have both gotten flu and Covid vaccines each year. I guess we’ll have to see if there’s a different way to get her protected this fall…
My husband’s small nasa center needs to let go 650-1000 employees. Even those that aren’t government employees and are contractors are in danger as projects are being cut. People can take the deferred resignation and give up their position or roll the dice and hope they don’t get laid off.
Yes, it’s $5 off $20 or more. But it’s not out of the kindness of Scholastic’s heart. It comes out of your book fair profit, so the money is taken out of the fundraising amount for the school.
It also varies from airport to airport. I get frustrated when I travel because I always get yelled at by TSA agents for following the directions of the previous airport. Some places want all devices out. Some only want laptops. Some want the bag of travel liquids out in their gallon bag. Some allow you to leave them in. But they all act like I’m supposed to know what their particular rules are.
My husband taught middle school math for one year. He didn’t have a teaching degree but had enough college credits in the subject to be emergency certified. While he was teaching another teacher asked for his help in passing their test. He was a little taken aback that the teachers of the subjects couldn’t pass the tests in the subjects they were teaching.
When I took my tests as part of my education undergraduate I had zero issues passing and was a little concerned about my classmates that did.
A decade in public education has not lifted my opinion of the general intelligence of some educators. (Many are genuinely fantastic, but that’s not always the case).
Swap one of the Cinderellas with this. Sexism that spans decades!

We’ve worked hard at maximizing the money we spend. We get a museum membership for a birthday every year and then use the passport program to visit other museums for free. Plus the membership does swaps occasionally so sometimes we get a month of the botanical gardens, aquarium, or zoo for free too. One of my hobbies is amusement parks, which is obviously expensive, but I get passes that work for many different parks and we always pack snacks and meals. We’ve also been spending a lot of time at playgrounds too. We invite a whole playgroup and whoever can make it will come and it’s a lot of fun. We try to limit our consumerism because it’s definitely everywhere
