Feels like a generational rite of passage at this point to shit on Scientologists

I'm glad there's still some light in the world

For real, when I started seeing these scientology speedruns I literally said to myself "I guess the kids are gonna be alright"

Everyone knows bullshit when they see it. People choose to follow obviously stupid bullshit, like the scientologist cult.

Why? Cultists LIE! They push bullshit to take over your life, finances, and everything.

scientologist cultists are required to sign a billion year work contract. No, really.

Gooood gooood

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to The Associated Press that it responded to multiple incidents last month, which forced Scientology to remove all external door handles on its Hollywood Boulevard properties this week.

Lol

Not to be confused with their internal door handle removal order, which was part of their "you can check out any time you'd like, but you may never leave" policy.

Article is shit. It says Scientology is a religion. It's not. It's a cult.

Pretty fucked it doesn't mention any of their crimes or how they've been banned by so many countries for these crimes.

Maybe one day someone will get me to understand the difference between religion and cult.

[-] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 weeks ago

Religions are mainstream, cults aren't.

[-] Jomega@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

You see, in a cult there's a guy at the top who knows it's all bullshit. In a religion that guy died ages ago and scholars aren't sure if he existed to begin with.

Maybe one day someone will get me to understand the difference between religion and cult.

Cult: a small unpopular religion.

Religion: a large popular cult.

Or, if you prefer:

"the only difference between a religion and a cult is the amount of real estate they own"

-Frank Zappa

Though that kinda falls apart in the Scientologist's case. They have acquired a lot of real estate since Zappa first made that statement.

All religions are cults. The only difference is how many people practice it and thus gain favor in society.

I never thought i would see 'literal speedrunning' that isnt just track & field.

[-] LaunchesKayaks@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Ain't it awesome lmao

Participants film themselves "speedrunning" through the building, or aiming to complete a task as fast as possible per the common video game slang. The task is to map out Scientology's buildings and get as much information as they can about the inner workings of the organization
