Well now I'm gonna buy them even harder
This made me chuckle. Good one
While American weapons have remote shut offs? It will be suicide to use American weapons to defend Europe. And price do not matter at all.
Not sure they do have a shut off, but modern weapon systems are so complex that they don't have to have that. Just stop supporting them with updates, material and support and most will be useless in a very short time.
I'm sure they did it with phantoms in Ukraine.
If they lobby against it that means it's working
Maybe they should try aggressively lobbying Trump to stop...(gestures around vaguely)...everything he's been doing. He is the entire reason for their perfectly understandable hesitation to treat the US as a reliable supplier.
Any deal they negotiate with him is subject to change, depending on whatever mood he happens to wake up in, from one day to the next. So, why the fuck would anyone want to sign a contract with someone like that? Especially when it comes to their own national security?
"Oh no! If those aren't the consequences of my own actions."
Europe needs to continue to develop and patronize their own weapons systems. They have the second best gear on the planet to be sure, only behind the US because of the massive spending we do.
They don't need the US for security, as is. They are going to fall to far right parties like dominoes though, which will with the help of the US and Russia try to fix themselves in power, and given the rot in our established parties and bureaucracies I wouldn't assume they won't succeed.
So while Europe needs to make and buy their own systems, that they don't need to worry about the US sending the signal for the kill switch to brick them in a show down, they also need to offer some popular reform to voters, because as is, they will fall. France, the UK is already fucked under the supposed better party. The rest will follow, but France is important because of the Nukes, the UK too but they are a lost cause, and will side with the US if push comes to shove.
Fuck Politico, fuck Axel Springer, fuck Döpfner. Don't share their BS, don't give them clicks.
