If we're slowly taking Pepe back we can do the same with Doge.
Wait what happened to pepe? What are we taking it back from? (I'm an avid pepe user)
4chan and their offshoot nazi spaces. It's not entirely apropriated by them but it's incredibly popular, there were shitholes like r/frenworld which sit all day and made fascist dogwhistles with pepe and clowns (and clown pepes).
Oh I remember that but I thought that was like in 2017 or something.
Yeah they are still on it, just 3 day ago i encountered one of them here on lemmy, and i'm not even active here.
That is unfortunate.
There's a documentary about it from 2020 that is quite the watch.
